Until webcams came along, job search following the same broken process for decades: search - apply - informational interview questions. The interview is the most important part so why not put it first? Webcams help employers find the best applicants more quickly than they can with reams of applications and resumes where all candidates look and sound the same. After a live conversation or hearing recorded video answers, employers get a better sense of who to invite for a second face-to-face interview. Read more [...]
SS has always been a monstrous lie, repeated so often that everyone believes it. We need to get to a rational plan where contributors can build up their own wealth accounts...but that would deprive Congress of its 'free' money Credit Card financed by non-voting children. What a bunch of lying thieves we have up there! I must give Perry the most credit here. He is calling it what it is, a lie and a Ponzi scheme. If Romney is willing to lie about it and use it to scare seniors into voting for him over Read more [...]
Lewis needs to go. I have been a loyal customer of BAC for more than 30 years. However, as soon as I can change my direct deposits I plan to close all our BAC accounts. Over the last 5 years BAC customer service has deteriorated significantly. Yesterday I discovered you cannot write a check for more than $2K in cash because the bank accounts for children does not maintain these funds locally. They need 48 hours advance notice before you can access your money. Therefore, if more than 15-20 people Read more [...]
The problem with government regulation is that so much of it is contradictory. 1980s era Honda Civics got considerably better gas mileage than their more modern counterparts. Of course, the reason why is because the 1980s Civics weighed less because they don't have all the safety features. As a general rule, more lose weight quickly = more safety, but more weight = less efficiency. (There is a similar trade-off between fuel efficiency and pollution.) Unfortunately, Congress thinks they can repeal Read more [...]
Kevin: some of the phishing pop ups look exactly like the login site of Gmail.....I have personally experienced such phishing pop ups for my offshore bank account and stock accounts, and that is scarey. It is not sooooooo obvious as your eggheaded self seems to think. But I agree, most companies in the U.S. are super lax on security software---they dont want to pay for it. I have had my bank account hacked into and money stolen 7 times ( from inside Wells) when I had an account at Wells Fargo (7 Read more [...]
As a business psychologist, i know there is a wealth of good quality data to support the use of addictive personality disorder testing in employment decisions. The testing must comply with EEOC requirements and is used as part of the process. It is in the best interests of both the employee and employer to have a good match in personality factors required for the job. For example, there are engineers with the same degrees who spend all their time in lab and others who work in sales--these positions Read more [...]
This was a speech on jobs and not on balancing the budget. He favored the Cut, Cap and Balance bill Do you honestly expect him to lay out his cuts now? That would be political suicide and that is why nobody, I mean nobody, ever does that until elected. Let's win the election and then pass the Cut, Cap and Balance and then we can go after specific cuts. We must understand that we are not going to worklife balance the budget by cuts alone. That is why we need an agenda of expansion of free enterprise Read more [...]
Re: Elizabeth Collins, that is amazing. She actually knows about all of these things -- writing for fun to the audience, with tone and in a manner that will speak to the reader, etc., and yet all she writes is a standard brand Leftist screed. These people really do live in a bubble. They are so accustomed to talking/listening/reading only their liberal/left sources and friends, it's just normal to them. And anything outside of that bubble, is just wrong. Aside from that, her writing style is boring, Read more [...]
Good article. But I don't know if you would call this social development in childrenism. In US the telecom operator charges each user a fee, which is then used for development of telecom infrastructure in rural areas. This fee goes to the government which then doles it out to telecom operators in rural areas. Their property taxes and taxes on alcohol + tobacco go towards running schools. Someone else pays for somebody else. We Indians pay social security taxes which we will never get the benefit Read more [...]
My point serves to contrast to Lynch's legend- the ability to outperform based on 'what you know-' that homespun knowledge of comsumer products are a secret to success. Any alpha over his tenue has it's basis in the 'success' of Fannie and Freddie. Lynch is on record for admitting as much about Fannie Mae in more than one place. Your ad hominem aside, nothing you said contradicts my statement. And your last paragraph meets the criteria of your first, which, by your own definition of success, makes Read more [...]
