It is interesting to note. Each year, the Norwegians receive two group cohesivenesss of people into their country.
One group comes to receive the Nobel prize - acknowledging their profound contributions to mankind. This is the group to which the Norwegians criticize and refuse to accept them.
The other group is the one who invades their country - mostly, unskilled, uninvited, and undesired, who goes there to live off their welfare system, with minimum or no contribution to their country. A group Read more [...]
The increased incidence in diagnosis of asthma in California was related to the Worker's Compensation regulations and insurer's trying to foist genuine woker related health claims on to the private health insurance sector. Any claim with pulmonary involvement was sent for asthma 360 evaluation to a prostituting MD who would then assert that the UNDERLYING cause of the claim was a pre-existing previously undiagnosed condition of asthma.
For example, a fellow empoyee inhaled a gnat at work. We had Read more [...]
Barone's use of the term liberal how to tell if a guy likes you describe those who believe(d) in the virtues of big government (and big business) by words and deeds (expanding government and big business including big health care providers) is confusing at best. What we have seen for quite some time is a socialist human action at war with liberalism. And the likes of Reagan and Bush are as much to blame for this as any leaders during the period of perpetual trade deficits and exporting of capital Read more [...]
Certainly there is some excess that needs to be taken out, but I would be willing to bet that a lot of the saves will come out of programs that are more 'investment' oriented. Programs such as new hire training (who needs that when you're cutting jobs?), branch infrastructure (you can get by on the job training programs the same furniture for another 2 years), and acquisition (shouldn't be growing when you're trying to shrink) will all get the big, ugly ax. These programs can be temporarily suspended Read more [...]
I think your comments are right on target - these would be very valuable themes for more articles and research - there is a report from NASULGC, a Public University Association that on page 84, table 15 shows the present value of the difference between a college education and a high school degree at only $121,539. Years ago, the Dept of Labor had a report showing that up to 17% of college grads never earn a college degree level salary. . . but the cheerleading and myth building continues relentlessly.

here's a simple government-at-work solution of modern day life...:
a goverment subsidized municipal rail system is losing money (as usual). it needs more money. its solution --> raise fares.
here's a simple private enterprise response...Jack runs a taxi service and Joe opens up across the street with lower rates. jack schwarz loses customers. Jack needs more money or all Read more [...]
The problem with government regulation is that so much of it is contradictory.
1980s era Honda Civics got considerably better gas mileage than their more modern counterparts. Of course, the reason why is because the 1980s Civics weighed less because they don't have all the safety features. As a general rule, more lose weight quickly = more safety, but more weight = less efficiency. (There is a similar trade-off between fuel efficiency and pollution.) Unfortunately, Congress thinks they can repeal Read more [...]
Kevin: some of the phishing pop ups look exactly like the login site of Gmail.....I have personally experienced such phishing pop ups for my offshore bank account and stock accounts, and that is scarey.
It is not sooooooo obvious as your eggheaded self seems to think.
But I agree, most companies in the U.S. are super lax on security software---they dont want to pay for it. I have had my bank account hacked into and money stolen 7 times ( from inside Wells) when I had an account at Wells Fargo (7 Read more [...]
I have had an HP laptop since 2004 with an AMD Athlon 64bit processor. I have lugged this brute all over the place. Now the hinge on the screen does not keep the screen up but the lug still works really well on XP. Now I installed Windows 7 and it works like new!! Our experiences are remarkably different...go figure. I have also bought 2 other HP laptops for my daughters and they are still purring along fine.
So I believe in HP laptops and will buy one again. I am a probably a much more heavier Read more [...]
Or, if one is planning on living in a home for a while (or expects how to meditate properly sell it to someone who also uses the internet - like anyone ) is to do a bit of hard-wiring. While we'd all like to play instant-gratification, the costs of wiring when properly planned, are quite reasonable. And they allow for placement of 2 or 3 routers used solely for their wifi and switch capabilities, to properly distribute signals.
And there is no real substitute for hard wiring for a stationary piece Read more [...]
