From what I read, OBL is in very very poor situation. In the entire compound, they didn't find any gold, silver, or large amount of cash. Only 500 Euro on OBL. There are not a lot furniture. The existing furniture are very old, and bad. Clearly, they are in some financial strain. He already lost leadership around 2005, and that is the time the building is built. There are no security guards. When Seal team building activities for the workplace got in, there is only one person fired gun, and killed. Read more [...]
I don't feel that all research should be given a blanket condemnation, but feel that research money paid out by the federal and state governments should receive deeper scrutiny as to the importance types of research methods research grants before they send the checks. No one said that all research is bad; naturally, it isn't, but the waste is there....at least from my small perspective. If government agencies regarded grant money as coming out of their own private pockets, it seems reasonable that Read more [...]
Perhaps it is laughable, but at least Senator Collins is stating the obvious: that the winner of government contracts are not decided by the elected politicians, or at least should not be. Now if elected officials cannot influence the selection of winning bidders, why bother with trying to get disclosure recruitment and selection process instead uphold the constitution as the SC has ruled. Now, if you believe the awarding of contracts is fraught with corruption and influence peddling by politicians, Read more [...]
The West has, for far too long, been lazy. it's time to expect more, demand more, and not accept less of our kids. We are failing because like the author of this sad piece, we are too obsessed with feelings and emotions. Mostly our feelings, but also the children's feelings. Western kids these days are ill-prepared for real life because they are coddled until well into their 30s, and made to think that what they crave, is a Right.
Children are a reflection of their parents. If they fail, then you Read more [...]

i am reminded of Marlon Brando in the first Godfather movie, which opens on Padrone Day when the locals petition for a gift from his Excellency or maybe the book

James Dean, what gives you the social authority to even know if your neighbor's wife is pregnant?
What gives you the authority to have any voice in whether or not your neighbor's wife chooses to have an abortion?
Since you do not have such authority, from where does a government which derives its power from the people get such an intrusive power?
Now...you respond by saying that we become living beings long before birth and that this Hindu philosophy must now become the law of our land, displacing Read more [...]
Well, to me it all depends on what you want out of life. Certainly Slavic languages are spoken by tens of millions, but not by tens of millions Americans. It is a useful and lucrative language to know whether for business or government service. My underlying thesis, however, is that not everyone derives pleasure from the same choices in life. You or someone else might thoroughly enjoy nuclear engineering and feel get passionate about it as your line of work. She did not, but taking Dr. Dunning's Read more [...]
I think we need to rigorously define social mobility. In the US , if you are leaders born or made born middle to upper-middle class, you can become fabulously wealthy. In that sphere the US beats every nation quite handily. A glance at the forbes 400 will reveal that.
If you are born lower to lower middle class, then it's probably a better bet to be born elsewhere in the developed world. You'll get more of a hand up in life. In exchange for more restrictions later on.
That is very clearly the bargain Read more [...]
The government and taxpayers need to get out of the paying off student loans loan business. Obama's takeover of student loans was part of his march for the government to tie everyone to the Federal tete. This is also to prop up liberal/democratic colleges whose tutions are ridiculous and need to be brought into line through the free market without the taxpayers being on the hook for loans that go bad. That will require that legitimate underwriting standards be imposed on who is eligible to get loans. Read more [...]
Lewis needs to go. I have been a loyal customer of BAC for more than 30 years. However, as soon as I can change my direct deposits I plan to close all our BAC accounts. Over the last 5 years BAC customer service has deteriorated significantly. Yesterday I discovered you cannot write a check for more than $2K in cash because the bank accounts for children does not maintain these funds locally. They need 48 hours advance notice before you can access your money. Therefore, if more than 15-20 people Read more [...]
